Mental health services and community providers reporting shortage of 84,000 FTE staff

38,000 are nursing vacancies, that's 1 in 10 posts.

Immediate workforce shortfall is so severe it requires at least 5,000 nurses a year to be recruited from overseas.

Like many countries worldwide following the pandemic, the UK is experiencing a need of Physicians. Record numbers of people need mental health treatment but there aren't enough psychiatrists to meet demand, the Royal College of Psychiatrists' 2021 census has revealed. At least 1.5 million people in England are waiting for treatment but a tenth of consultant psychiatrist posts (568 out of 5,317) are not filled.

Once qualified you can specialise in:

Working with those with psychosis, eating disorders, personality disorders, depression, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder, drugs and alcohol, post-traumatic stress disorder, mental health act, safe guarding, psychopharmacology.

To address the shortage, EPSN Workforce is working closely with hospitals to place candidates inside and outside of the UK to help build a strong workforce to shorten waiting lists for life-saving treatments.

Support with objective structured clinical examination - OSCE

OSCE is a modern type of examination often used in health sciences (e.g., audiology, midwifery, occupational therapy, optometry, orthoptics, medicine (allopathic and osteopathic), physician assistants/associates, physical therapy, massage therapy, radiography, etc.

OSCE very helpful in medical education because they allow a student to practice and demonstrate clinical skills in a standardized medical scenario.

In the run-up to the OSCE exam, you will be given support and the opportunity to practise and prepare.
