Our Client has an exciting opportunity for an experienced ITU Manager to join the department. The ideal candidate would need current experience in working in a similar role, however, experienced candidates currently working as Charge Nurse / Sister level in an ITU environment and looking to progress their career to the next level will also be considered.
The majority of our cases are Cardiac therefore experience of working within a Cardiothoracic ITU is desirable.
This is a full time position, Monday to Friday, however flexibility will be considered regarding start and finish times.
Our Critical Care department combines HDU & ITU, covering a wide variety of clinical specialties including; Cardiac, Thoracic, Neuro, Spinal and complex GI, complex Maxillofacial reconstructive procedures and Urology.
Duties and responsibilities
- Effective management of the Intensive Therapy Unit service provision
- All aspects of staff management (HR issues; rotas; sickness; performance issues, annual leave, recruitment and retention of staff, etc.)
- Performance of audits and implementation of findings along with shared learning
- Conduct investigations following incidents and undertake Root Cause Analysis
- Effective equipment management
- Clinical governance and risk management
- Ensure the unit operates under strict Health & Safety regulations
- Ensure regulatory requirements are met within the ITU environment
- Conduct investigations following incidents and undertake Root Cause Analysis
- Ensure delivery of excellent, patient-centred care
- Support and develop staff
- Promote effective interdisciplinary collaborative working
Who we're looking for
- NMC registered
- ITU qualification
- Current ITU experience at similar level
- Leadership and management experience
- Good knowledge of all aspects of staff management
- Problem solving skills
- Effective decision making skills
- Dedication to excellence
- Good knowledge of regulatory requirements within the ITU environment
- Good knowledge of clinical governance and risk management
- Experienced in conducting investigations following incidents and undertaking of Root Cause Analysis
